Here is a review from a satisfied owner:This machine works great, it is heavy duty metal case and does delicious creamy espresso. This machine does not leak like the gaggia I tryed before and for the price it is far the best I used. If you get it from Amazon you will get the best service ever! The water tank on the back is removable to fill and clean, the water retention tank for the coffee drops below is also removable, easy to clean, big enough and of very good quality. The metal grill does not rust and the portafila is solid.

What a current happy owner has to say about the Gaggia 14101
Best Espresso Machine Under $1000
I went through about 10 different espresso machines and finally concluded that the Gaggia Classic is the best one for under $1000. I had gone through 2 KitchenAid Pro Espresso Machines and they both broke. I then exchanged it for an automatic Jura-Capresso and that got clogged. I exchanged that for a Breville espresso machine but that exploded in my kitchen. I also had a FrancisFrancis! but it could not keep up with my 2 cappuccinos a day routine. The La Pavoni Europiccola manual espresso machine looked cool but burnt the espresso everytime. I finally bought the Gaggia Classic and was completely surprised by the power it had to blast through fine espresso & its quick start up time.

By King O.My husband and I tested out several espresso machines in the $100-$200 about a year ago (wish I could remember which ones! I know one was a Krups), picking out the ones with the best reviews. We were still so annoyed with the first two, which were also pump-driven. This machine was the third try, and now I’m pretty sure this is the ONLY worthwhile machine in this price range.
I also worked at a cafe and missed having the $10k machine to make free drinks, and this is an awesome substitute. I have friends who are huge coffee snobs say the lattes this thing makes are the best they’ve ever had. I agree, and I love being able to whip up a couple at a time. Unlike other cheap machines, this one will actually steam milk from refrigerator-cold to piping hot, no cheating with the microwave required. That is a huge deal to me, and definitely makes a difference in quality.

Compared to other espresso machines in this price range, I don’t think you will find a better machine.
Let me show you what current owners have to say about it.
Errin,
We’ve had our Breville machine for over 4 years and it’s still going strong – which is saying something because we’ve been known to use it 3 – 7 times a day for multiple espressos, tea, and just steaming milk. We love this machine. It works really well, really consistently, even though we honestly don’t take very good care of it. It’s easy to use, easy to clean, and easy to fill (and wash out)the water tank (especially important if you have gnarly hard water like ours). It’s really good looking out on the counter too and doesn’t really take up much space – after all, it stores all of it’s own parts (there’s a handy tray under/behind the water reservoir that holds the other size of filter, cleaning needle for the steam wand, etc.). The steamer works great and does an excellent job even on soy milk (which is all we use). We have made our money back on this machine many times over. I would highly recommend it to anyone who drinks a lot of espresso and wants to start making it at home. It may have cost as much as my first car, but it runs a lot more dependably!
